Grok pricing questions

Grok Free costs nothing. Plus is US$8 a month, Premium US$30, Super US$100 and Ultra US$200, before sales tax, or US$80, US$300, US$1,000 and US$2,000 paid yearly. Teams seats are US$30, US$100 or US$200 a month, and Enterprise is quoted.

List prices do not include sales tax. SpaceXSI's docs say tax may be added at checkout where required, and X Subscription Corp, which sells the subscriptions, calculates and collects it. The rate depends on where you are and is not stated.

Yes. Teams seats cost the same as the matching individual tier: US$30 a month for Premium, US$100 for Super and US$200 for Ultra. Seats can be mixed, a team can have one person or many, and Plus is not available for teams. Teams has central billing and administration and one shared prepaid top-up balance. Enterprise adds invoicing, SSO, SCIM and volume pricing, and is quoted.

On 12 October 2026 SpaceXSI replaced SuperGrok, Cursor and X Premium sign-ups with The X Subscription, which bundles Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor and X Premium benefits. Existing SuperGrok, Grok Business, Cursor and X Premium plans continue until changed. The US App Store still lists SuperGrok at US$30 a month or US$300 a year.

Each paid plan has a weekly usage pool shared across Grok, Grok Bot and Cursor. Past it, use is paid from prepaid top-up credit, with optional auto top-up and an optional monthly spending cap. Third-party models in Cursor draw on that credit at API list price from the first request.

The API is billed separately from any plan, in US dollars per million tokens. Grok 4.7 is US$2 for input, US$0.50 for cached input and US$6 for output. Paid plans include API access, but API use does not draw on the plan's weekly pool.

In US dollars, SuperGrok launched in February 2025 at US$30 a month and SuperGrok Heavy in July 2025 at US$300. X Premium+, which included Grok, rose from US$16 to US$22 in December 2024 and to US$40 in February 2025. The X Subscription replaced them on 12 October 2026 at US$8, US$30, US$100 and US$200 a month in the US.

Grok pricing sources and methodology

From grok.com/plans as shown to a US visitor on 18 October 2026, and SpaceXSI's X Subscription docs, which list the same prices. Prices are shown before applicable taxes and fees, so prices here exclude sales tax. Annual per month is each plan's yearly price divided by 12; grok.com rounds these to US$7, US$25, US$84 and US$167.

Estimates from list prices, excluding sales tax. Free, Plus, Premium, Super and Ultra serve one person each; two or more people are priced on Teams, at US$30 a Premium seat and US$100 a Super seat a month, monthly only because no yearly Teams price is published. Ultra seats are not estimated. Extra usage is added at cost. API tokens are priced on the chosen model from Ensurva's AI price guides, in US dollars; no plan includes API credits. Company size assumes every employee gets a Premium seat. Enterprise is quoted and is not priced.

SuperGrok, SuperGrok Lite, Plus and Heavy in the US App Store, and Grok Business, are listed as additional costs, not plans: since 12 October 2026 new customers start on The X Subscription. Whether a new customer in the US can still buy the in-app SuperGrok plans was not tested.

The API table comes from the same data as Ensurva's AI price guides, read from SpaceXSI's own pricing pages, in US dollars per million tokens.

Not charted. The X Subscription plans launched on 12 October 2026, and the plans before them (SuperGrok, X Premium) were different products, so there is no earlier price for these plans. US prices of the earlier plans come from SpaceXSI's announcements and press reports, and are in the pricing questions.

Drawn from how SpaceXSI charges, not from records of negotiated deals.

Not shown. Public comments on Grok's pricing from people identifiably in the US have not been collected yet.

Checked monthly against SpaceXSI's own pages.

The calculator's By use case tab puts each person on a seat that suits how heavily their role uses AI. Software developers use it most, about 15% of their working hours against about 6% across all workers (Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, 2026), so they get the heavier seat where the plan has one. Content, support and finance staff fit a standard seat, and general office staff use AI least. Each automated job is priced at a typical size, about 100 tokens to 75 words: a support reply reads about 1,100 words and writes 200, and a contract summary reads 10,000 and writes 750. Decision jobs read the record and give a short typed answer: about 600 words to route a support ticket, 4,500 to check a document against a policy. Those sizes are Ensurva's own estimates. A model that writes no text, such as Jev, is priced on decision jobs only. Jobs are priced as API use on the vendor's default model, less any API credits the plan includes.

Prices are estimates from SpaceXSI's published list prices on the date shown. Check grok.com before buying.
