Jev pricing in New Zealand

TypeSafe AI, a San Francisco company, sells Jev to New Zealand businesses only through its API. Jev is a decision model for software, not a chat assistant: it returns typed answers with probabilities rather than written text. Input costs US$42 per billion tokens, output is free, and use is paid from prepaid credits in US dollars.

Ask every question in one request

Jev pricing questions

Jev is sold only through TypeSafe's API, in US dollars. Input costs US$42, about NZ$74, per billion tokens, and output tokens are free. Both current models, jev-1.14.0 and jev-1.13.0, cost the same.

No. Jev is TypeSafe AI's first System One model, built to make decisions inside software. You send it state and typed questions, such as a choice from a list, a score or a yes or no, and it returns structured answers with probabilities. It does not write text, so it does not replace a chat assistant.

TypeSafe's customer agreement says fees exclude sales, GST, value-added and similar taxes, and that the customer pays them. It does not say whether TypeSafe adds GST at checkout, so prices here are shown before any tax. Fees are paid in US dollars.

Buy credits in the TypeSafe console under Settings, Billing, and use is deducted from them. Automatic top-ups are optional. Purchased credits are non-refundable and expire 12 months after purchase. When credits run out, the API returns error 402.

TypeSafe publishes no list of countries it sells in. Its customer agreement bars only people and countries under US embargo or on US restricted lists, and sign-ups are open in the TypeSafe console with no waitlist. Its website terms say the site is intended for visitors in the United States, and the service runs from the US West Coast.

Not since launch. Jev launched in early access on 15 September 2026 at US$42 per billion input tokens with free output, and jev-1.14.0, released on 14 October 2026, kept the same price. TypeSafe says it cannot prove the price is not subsidised, and expects it to go down rather than up.

Jev pricing sources and methodology

From TypeSafe's website, model documentation, help centre and Master Customer Agreement, read on 18 October 2026. TypeSafe publishes one US dollar price for every country and no list of countries it sells in, so these are the same prices TypeSafe shows everywhere. Jev is sold only as an API; there is no subscription or seat plan. Fees are paid in US dollars and exclude tax, which the customer pays, so amounts are shown before GST.

Input is priced at US$0.042 per million tokens, TypeSafe's US$42 per billion, and output is free. Converted to NZD at the European Central Bank reference rate (1 USD = 1.7656 NZD, 16 October 2026). Both current Jev models cost the same, so the model picked does not change the figure, and there is no company size table, because Jev is priced by use rather than by seat.

Jev is not yet in Ensurva's AI price guides, so this page has no per-model API table. Its one price is in the plans table.

Drawn from how TypeSafe charges and its own published cookbook, not from records of negotiated deals.

Not collected for New Zealand yet, so the section is left off the page.

Checked monthly against TypeSafe's own pages.

The calculator's By use case tab puts each person on a seat that suits how heavily their role uses AI. Software developers use it most, about 15% of their working hours against about 6% across all workers (Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, 2026), so they get the heavier seat where the plan has one. Content, support and finance staff fit a standard seat, and general office staff use AI least. Each automated job is priced at a typical size, about 100 tokens to 75 words: a support reply reads about 1,100 words and writes 200, and a contract summary reads 10,000 and writes 750. Decision jobs read the record and give a short typed answer: about 600 words to route a support ticket, 4,500 to check a document against a policy. Those sizes are Ensurva's own estimates. A model that writes no text, such as Jev, is priced on decision jobs only. Jobs are priced as API use on the vendor's default model, less any API credits the plan includes.

Prices are estimates from TypeSafe's published US dollar list prices on the date shown, converted to NZD. Check docs.typesafe.ai/models before buying.
