Claude pricing questions
Claude Free costs nothing. Pro is NZ$40 a month, or NZ$400 paid yearly. Max 5x is NZ$200 a month. Team is NZ$50 a seat a month for standard seats and NZ$250 for premium seats, or NZ$40 and NZ$200 paid yearly, for 2 to 150 people. Enterprise is US$20 a seat a month paid yearly, plus usage. All NZD prices include GST.
Yes. Anthropic's pricing page shows New Zealand visitors NZD prices with the line "Prices include 15% GST". Enterprise is the exception, quoted in US dollars. Anthropic says tax is worked out from the billing address.
Pro and Max are for one person each, and differ in how much use they allow: Max 5x gives 5 times Pro's usage per session, and Max 20x gives 20 times. Team is for 2 to 150 people with central billing and admin, in standard seats at 1.25 times Pro's usage or premium seats at 6.25 times.
Yes, on Pro and Team. Pro is NZ$400 a year against NZ$480 paid monthly, about 17% less. Team seats are about 20% less: NZ$40 against NZ$50 for standard and NZ$200 against NZ$250 for premium. Max is monthly only.
Paid plans can keep going on prepaid usage credits, charged at standard API rates. Credits bought in bundles cost 10% to 30% less. Without credits, use pauses until the session or weekly limit resets.
The API is priced per million tokens in US dollars and billed separately from any plan. Claude Haiku 5.5 is US$0.10 for input and US$0.50 for output; Claude Sonnet 5.5 is US$2 and US$10; Claude Opus 5.5 is US$4 and US$20.
Claude pricing sources and methodology
From claude.com/pricing as shown to a New Zealand visitor on 18 October 2026, and Anthropic's help centre. The page shows NZD prices with "Prices include 15% GST", and also a generic line that prices shown do not include applicable tax; the GST line is the one printed with the NZD figures, so prices here are taken as including GST.
Estimates from list prices, including GST. Free, Pro and Max serve one person each, so two or more people are priced on Team standard seats. Extra usage is added at cost. API tokens are priced on the chosen model from Ensurva's AI price guides, in US dollars converted to NZD at the European Central Bank reference rate (1 USD = 1.7656 NZD, 16 October 2026), less the monthly API credits Max and Team include, which are taken as US dollars. Company size assumes every employee gets a seat and no extra usage. Enterprise is quoted in US dollars and is not priced.
Left out of the plans and the calculator: Anthropic's New Zealand page shows no NZD price for it. Its US price is US$200 a month. Max 5x is taken at the page's "From" price.

The calculator's By use case tab puts each person on a seat that suits how heavily their role uses AI. Software developers use it most, about 15% of their working hours against about 6% across all workers (Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, 2026), so they get the heavier seat where the plan has one. Content, support and finance staff fit a standard seat, and general office staff use AI least. Each automated job is priced at a typical size, about 100 tokens to 75 words: a support reply reads about 1,100 words and writes 200, and a contract summary reads 10,000 and writes 750. Decision jobs read the record and give a short typed answer: about 600 words to route a support ticket, 4,500 to check a document against a policy. Those sizes are Ensurva's own estimates. A model that writes no text, such as Jev, is priced on decision jobs only. Jobs are priced as API use on the vendor's default model, less any API credits the plan includes.
